My Quarter Horse, Joella Clusive, has an unusual companion.  Four years ago, we moved from the city to a blissful place in the country.  I had kept Joella in a boarding stable when we lived in the city, so I was excited to at last turn her loose at our new home where she had a new barn and a large pasture.  But there was one thing that I hadn't taken into consideration when we moved:  Although the boarding stable where we kept her didn't allow her freedom to roam, it did provide her with the companionship of other horses.
     So I guess that it should come as no surprise that when a friend gave us a potbellied pig as a housewarming gift, that Joella elected to adopt the little fellow.
     Joella never goes anywhere without her little pig.  He even waits patiently while the farrier trims her hooves.  Joella and Pig often roll in the pond together.  If he doesn't keep up with her, she whinnies for him to hurry.   I've had folks drive by and nearly run off the road watching the two of them in the front yard.
     One time they went out on their own adventure and I was worried when I couldn't find them.  I called the local sheriff for assistance, but as I tried to give a description of my horse and pig, all the deputy could do was laugh.   However, we did find them later pasturing with some cattle about a mile away.
     We've had other Quarter Horses pasture here since we've moved, but Joella always lets them know that she's the boss and that's her little pig.
